Once a Month Journal Project – July Idea
How can you make a simple nature journal entry without much fuss? Record in detail your observations using all your senses.
Nature Journal Page Ideas:
- Use as many of your senses as possible this month to make observations for your journal entry: sight, touch, smell, sounds, and taste if appropriate.
- Create a reminder card to carry along with you as you spend time outdoors. I made mine on an index card and I will slip it into the front of my nature journal as a memory aid for my next nature journal entry.
- Help your child with his observations if they get stuck….make it fun and challenge each other to make as many observations as possible using your senses.
- Create a spot on your nature table to put items that demonstrate how each sense can be used in making nature observations. Include something that smells fragrant, something with an interesting texture, an item that is colorful and stimulates the sense of sight, etc. The sky is the limit!
I have created a Pinterest Board for journal page examples. I will label each entry with the prompt that describes it best for future reference.
Previous Month’s Ideas:
January – Nature Journal With a Photo
February- Nature Journal Out Your Window
March – Use Numbers
April – Collections
June - Sketch Outdoors
If you would like to contribute to the board, you will need to follow this Pinterest Board and then leave me a comment letting me know you want to be added. Important: If you contribute to the board, you need to include in your description the prompt it is featuring.

If you don’t include a description using one of the monthly journal prompts, I may remove it. This is not a board to post general nature journal pages. It is strictly for pages created using one of the twelve monthly prompts as part of this project.
Please note that you are not committed to make a journal each month…participate as you can and share your results to encourage others.
