Autumn 2017 Nature Schedule and a Giveaway

I’m hoping there will be many of you who will be joining us for the up-coming autumn season of nature study. I’m all geared up to jump into an ebook from the archives with fresh eyes in a new location.

I am by nature a planner, and I know many of you are likewise, so here’s the plan for the next few months here on the Handbook of Nature Study.

  2. I think the apple study will be fun and informative as we gather different varieties to inspect them! We can add in a trip to an orchard and a baking activity too. I think it would be fun for my little bakers to do some tests to find the best baking apple due to its characteristics. Thank you for all you do at OHC! I always find fresh inspiration through your materials.

    We spent live too far from you. We are in Woodland, WA. The PNW is a nature lovers dream! We are looking forward to Queen Ann’s lace. There’s so much of it around here, we might as well learn about it.

    I think my kids would be most interested in observing horses, but I’d have to say Queen Anne’s Lace because I love wildflowers and that is a personal interest of mine.

  14. The Geese and Duck sounds very interesting. We did a study each week watching them nest. We noted the temperaments and how they acted. It was really interesting.

    Looking forward to pinecones. Recently went to the Arboretum and was amazed at the variety of conifers.

  26. We’re new to all of this, so I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to just sit and study and enjoy nature … but since I’ve got a thing for horses and almost never get to be around them, I think that will be exciting! I’ll have to see what I can work out for that one. :-)
