How to Make a Plant Press

https://handbookofnaturestudy.com/2008/05/green-hour-challenge-14-pressing.html

If you didn’t catch my video on how to make a simple flower press last year, I wanted to post it again.

We have been using our press just about every day this week and it is an easy way to press your flowers that you are learning about for your Wednesday Flower Study lessons. It only takes a few days in the press and then the flowers are ready for your nature journal. Let you kids watch the video and have them make it for themselves…it really is that easy.

Here is the link to YouTube: Flower Press

Or you can watch it here on the blog.

  1. We went on a lovely nature walk yesterday (I’ll be blogging about that later today), & we were wishing we had one of these! I’ll be making one for next time. Thanks for sharing! :-)

  2. I really want to try this! It’s the one thing I always say we’ll try that we never get around to.

  4. Barb, How do you attach? fix? the flowers in a nature journal? My kids enjoyed watching the flower press video, and want to try it out now! Thank you sharing it!

  5. Kelsey,
We put the pressed flowers in our binders and not into our journals. My boys have a separate binder and we use sheet protectors to place the flowers into the binder.

I know that some paste or use rubber cement but I have not experimented with either product. Sounds like a good challenge for the future. :)

  6. Big Help! Do-able! Even for me…

  7. I saw this video about 1 1/2 years ago (maybe 2) and this is the way we do our flower pressing. I use wax paper on one side and tracing paper on the other. We have used these often so I chose to glue the papers onto the cardboard. I use tracing paper because the thinner flowers tend to stick to the wax. These presses are easily portable because they are so light. I am so glad to have found them!!! We display our pressed flowers in boxes, I want to try to Mod Podge idea. There are lots of things I can attach the flower too! Thank you for all you do.

  8. Thanks for posting this! I’ve been putting this off because the other presses I’ve seen were more complicated to make. I think I can handle cardboard and paper! Can’t wait to try it :)

  9. this helped me for my project! Thanks!!

Hi Barb, I have tried to watch this video here on the blog and also on YouTube, but nothing but a green screen shows up for me. I can hear you talking, but there is nothing there. Can you check on this for me? Thanks ~~ di
