Outdoor Hour Challenge – Owl Study

Outdoor Hour Challenge:
For this challenge, look up which owls live in your area and make a list. You can use a field guide or look up owls on All About Birds: Owls.

Choose one of the owls to learn more about, including the sound that the owl makes. In my experience, you will hear owls more than you will see them

  1. Oh a favorite! Thank you!

  2. We haven’t had much luck when we’ve looked for owls here. I think the highway noises from further over may carry and disturb them. That being said, it’s always fun to look so we’re going to try again tomorrow with your challenge!

  3. We have enjoyed seeing owls roosting in our trees here during the winter. It seems like they are more active and louder then. http://harvestmoonbyhand.blogspot.com/2014/11/screech-owl-outdoor-hour-challenge.html

  4. We live on the edge of old growth forest. We have found 2 owl pellets in our yard so far and my kids have enjoyed dissecting them.
