Inside Preparation Work:
- Discuss what berries are and where you might find some in your local area. Now that the deciduous trees and bushes have lost most of their leaves, it is a great time to take a Winter Berry Hunt.

Outdoor Hour Time:
- Take a walk outdoors this week and be on the watch for winter berries. You can use the Winter Berry Hunt page from the ebook during your walk if you want to add some additional challenge.
- Observe any mammals or birds that are eating the winter berries.
Follow-Up Activities:
- Create a nature journal entry that tells all about your winter berry walk. If you used the Winter Berry Hunt activity from the ebook, you can now fill in the notebook page with a sketch of an item you observed that was interesting. Or, you can use the Winter Berry Study page from the ebook to make a list of any interesting items you observed and then sketch a few on the page.
- Advanced Study: Research which mammals, birds, reptiles, or insects eat berries in your area. Create a list in your journal sharing your information.
- Advanced Study: Identify the plants you observe in your yard or neighborhood that have berries. Create a journal page that will serve as a reminder to watch for the plants in other seasons.
