Outdoor Hour Challenge
Autumn Oaks and Acorns from the Archives and the More Nature Study Autumn ebook

One of our favorite things to do this time of year here in my part of the country is to gather acorns on a nature walk. We have several different kinds of acorns in the foothills of the Sierras and each oak has a unique acorn shape and size.

Do a little research ahead of time and discover which oaks you have in your neighborhood and then take a look at the acorn for that particular tree.

Lovely oaks make me happy and along with my boys I have spent many hours making close observations of these magnificent trees. Summer will forever have the fragrance of hot oak leaves and autumn will forever be filled with the crunch of oak leaves and acorns.

Don’t forget to look up at the oak’s branches during your walk!

Use the ideas in this week’s links to create an oak and acorn study with your family. There is also a link that explains how to make leaf and ink prints for your nature journal so don’t miss that!
